Want something truly yours?
Build a custom branded set at The Video Lab.
Most businesses in Sioux Falls are recording in generic environments that look like everyone else's content. A custom branded set changes that — giving your videos an immediately recognizable visual identity that reinforces your brand every single time you record.
The custom build is one of the most underutilized offerings at The Video Lab. Here's how it works:
-
We work with you to design and build a custom 4x8ft panel that becomes the visual anchor of your branded set. This is what makes your content look unmistakably yours.
-
Four pre-built side panels can be rotated and configured in nearly 100 different ways. Choose from multiple seating options, practical lighting, and greenery to build the exact environment your brand calls for.
-
A small crate of personalized items — brand elements, props, meaningful objects — is stored at The Video Lab alongside your custom panel, ready for every session.
-
Your set is stored at The Video Lab between sessions. We provide the space, the studio tech, and all the production support. You walk in, sit down, and record in a space that looks like it was built just for you — because it was.
The Video Lab studio and team was fantastic! The team was knowledgeable & helpful and the environment was memorable & warm. Communication was on point. Great discovery questions were asked and day of execution was so professional and fun!! Can't wait to see the finished product once all the creative touches have been added to the videos. Thank you for such an excellent experience - you have a friend and customer for life! :)

FAQs
-
A content studio is a professionally equipped space designed specifically for recording video and audio content — built so that businesses and creators can show up, record, and leave with professional-quality material without needing to own or operate any of the equipment themselves.
At The Video Lab, it works like this. You book a session, show up prepared with what you want to say, and our studio tech handles everything else — cameras, lighting, audio levels, recording, and file management. You focus on your content. We make sure it looks and sounds exactly the way it should.
We have three purpose-built sets — Nova, Alverta, and Fran — each designed for a different type of content and group size. Whether you're recording a podcast episode, a YouTube video, a course module, or a talking-head piece for your website, there's a set that fits the format. And unlike a traditional video production company, we're built specifically for recurring content — meaning you can come back week after week and record efficiently, without the overhead of a full production crew on every session.
-
Usually video production studios are a bare shell and you bring in your own video production gear or rent the gear they have, which is an upsell for them. The studio is setup ready to roll with lights, camera and audio. All you need is your content.
-
No. And honestly, most of our clients walk in for the first time feeling more nervous than they expect to — and leave wondering why they waited so long.
The reason most business owners feel uncomfortable on camera isn't lack of talent. It's lack of the right environment. When you're trying to record in your office with your phone propped against a coffee mug, everything fights you — the lighting is wrong, you can hear the HVAC, someone walks past the door mid-sentence, and your brain is splitting its attention between what you're saying and whether any of it looks or sounds acceptable. That's not a you problem. That's an infrastructure problem.
When you walk into a studio where the cameras are set, the lighting is dialed in, the audio is ready, and someone is there whose entire job is to make you look and sound great — something shifts. You stop thinking about the technical side and you start just talking. And talking is something every CEO, founder, and business owner in the world already knows how to do.
Our studio tech is with you for every session. They'll guide you through the setup, help you get comfortable, and give you feedback between takes if you want it. First-time clients consistently tell us their first session felt nothing like what they expected. That's by design.
-
Yes! We offer basic video editing. You can add on video editing when you book a time. It is a bit extra cost wise but well worth it in the end.
-
The more prepared you are before you walk in, the more you'll get out of your session. Here's what makes the biggest difference.
Know what you're recording. This sounds obvious but it's where most people lose time. Have a clear idea of what video or videos you're making — the topic, the angle, and the key point you want the viewer to leave with. You don't need a word-for-word script, but you should know your opening line and your closing call to action before you sit down.
Dress for your brand. Wear something that feels professional and consistent with how you show up for clients. Avoid busy patterns, all-white, or all-black if possible — solid colors tend to read best on camera. When in doubt, wear what you'd wear to an important client meeting.
Think in batches. A studio session is most valuable when you're recording multiple pieces of content in one sitting — not one video and then going home. Before you book, make a list of everything you could record in a single session. Three to six pieces of content per booking is a realistic target and what makes the investment genuinely worthwhile.
Bring your talking points, not a teleprompter. Reading from a script on camera is one of the fastest ways to sound wooden. Know your main points, trust yourself to expand on them, and let the conversation flow naturally. The studio tech will let you know if a take isn't landing — and you can always go again.
If you're new to recording and want to make the most of your first session, ask about our Studio Onboarding Package when you book. It includes a pre-session consultation that walks you through everything from content planning to camera presence before you ever sit down in front of the lens.

Yes! Book a discovery call and we can chat more.
-
You can request changes to props and lighting but camera angles and key lighting is set.

It depends on what you're trying to build — and how often you need to build it.
A production team makes sense for one-off, high-production-value projects — a brand video, a commercial, a company culture film. These are campaigns: a significant investment of time and budget for a single deliverable. They're valuable for what they are. But they're not built for the kind of content that drives consistent brand growth — and they're rarely cost-effective to hire repeatedly.
A content studio is built for volume, consistency, and speed. The businesses that win with video aren't producing one incredible video a year. They're showing up every week with something useful to say — and building an audience that compounds over time as a result. For that kind of content strategy, a studio model outperforms a production team model on every metric that matters: cost per piece of content, time from recording to publish, and long-term return on the investment.
At The Video Lab we're not a production crew you hire for a project and then send home. We're infrastructure. You have access to a professional studio, a tech who knows your setup, and a team that understands your content goals — every time you book. That's a fundamentally different relationship than a traditional production engagement, and it's why our clients can record consistently without burning their budget or their team's bandwidth on every session.
If you need one exceptional video for a specific purpose — we can help with that too. But if you want video to actually move your business forward, consistency will always outperform perfection. And consistency is exactly what a content studio is designed to enable.
